"Close your eyes and think of something nice…"
Based on a true story about a family who survived the onslaught of the 2004 tsunami that struck Thailand. This movie didn’t focus on the tragedy itself but on this one family who was fortunate enough to fare the odds after the onslaught of the waves, the courage they had in overcoming the emotional trauma the event has caused, and about “the way that victims of the disaster band together, performing kindnesses large and small, willingly or grudgingly, to help others survive or find their families or channel their grief.”
Naomi’s acting and presence is great even if she spent almost half of the movie “doing nothing”. Ewan’s character as a father whose desperation to find his family was very heartfelt. That phone call almost broke my heart. And Tom Holland who portrayed Lucas, the eldest child who needed to be strong and mature enough for her mom, also did a great job. For me, his role is the one that pulled the story together.
This movie deserves the rave reviews most critics gave.
