A Mother’s Love Never Dies
True enough, a mother’s love is the greatest love you can have from a fellow human being. But this movie took that love to creepy levels. Starring Jessica Chastain (she’s making some noise in Hollywood recently), Mama can make your heart stop in anticipation of what’s going to happen and will make your heart skip a beat when Mama shows up.
Chastain delivered her role well as a rock band member who is not prepared to be a mother of two unfortunate nieces of her partner, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. (She’s very different from this movie compared to her Zero Dark Thirty.) The two girls are also great especially the younger one portrayed by Isabelle Nelisse. It really amazes me how they make these kids act splendidly.
Overall, the movie is okay. The backstory is not spoon-fed but the suspense and the plot are. The ending is not open ended as other horror/suspense movies but it is neither a happy one. I give this movie 3 stars out of 5.
